Welcome to The European Forum for International Mediation and Dialogue e.V.

The European Forum for International Mediation and Dialogue e.V. is a non-profit, non-governmental organization active in the field of international conflict mediation. It responds to both political and commercial conflicts, including those in fragile states.

Our primary goal is to help maintain global stability, security and peace, and to prevent global conflicts.

The European Forum applies novel and effective methods of mediation to inter- and intrastate conflicts. Mediation is employed as a structured process in which a neutral, impartial third party, without any decision-making power supports parties to find a mutually agreeable solution.

The specific techniques and methods used and the projects implemented are designed to support the development of a constructive international culture of conflict resolution. We seek to encourage different nationalities and cultures to resolve conflicts through more efficient ways of communicating and greater tolerance.

The following activities support these aims:antje_herrberg_conference

1.    The development of a global network of mediators who support the goal of
advancing the field and the professional practice of international peace mediation.

2.    The implementation of projects in different regions of the world that
endorse the principles of mediation (impartiality, confidentiality, rule of
consensus, interest based process design) and dialogue processes. This includes
the facilitation of communication between parties through the mediator, the
support of and moderation during the negotiation process, the holding of
roundtable discussions and the joint search for solutions to a specific conflict.

3.    The design and implementation of training which can provide for a more peaceful
       conflict culture.

4.    The cooperation with state and non-state actors in Germany and in the international
community with the goal of effectively implementing mediation and dialog processes.
